Spiekkleding is clothing that is printed with language support for people who would like to learn Dutch, in particular working migrants. The print contains many phrases and words that come in handy in daily life, both in the user's mother tongue and in Dutch. Drawings help to find the right information. Spiekkleding has been developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
In the Netherlands you can find many excellent Dutch language courses for newcomers. But as we have all experienced when trying to speak a foreign language, learning a language from a book in a classroom is completely different from applying those lessons in the outside world. Spiekkleding was designed to bridge that gap between the classroom and the 'real' world. Through a quick peek at your Spiekkleding, you can refresh your memory and put into practice what you learnt in class. Spiekkleding is not meant as a replacement for language courses but rather as complementary.
We make Spiekkleding both as leisure wear and as workwear. Leisure wear variants feature phrases and terms for everyday situations. Workwear variants help you to speak Dutch at work. Our leisure wear features phrases and terms at A1/A2 beginners level. The content can help you with, for example, introducing yourself and making an appointment. For language schools we tailor our content to what is taught in class. For municipalities with large communities of working migrants we offer extra support. For companies we create custom solutions. Currently we offer professionally translated Polish, Rumanian and Bulgarian Spiekkleding. At request we produce other languages too, upto quality level ISO 17100. We take language very seriously and we do our utmost to make sure that the phrases on Spiekkleding are correct.
Spiekkleding is made in the Netherlands under fair labor conditions. We have seen all production locations with our own eyes. We work with bio-based materials which allow for recycling.
